In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Shanthi Priya shares the story of her return to the silver screen. Shanthi’s career began with a meteoric rise in the 80s and 90s, starring in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. However, she stepped away from the limelight to marry actor Siddharth Ray. Despite the challenges faced by married actresses in the industry at the time, Shanthi remained passionate about cinema.
Her return coincides with a shift towards content-driven narratives and greater opportunities for female actors. Reflecting on her journey alongside her sister, actress Bhanupriya, Shanthi reveals moments of envy but remains driven by a desire to make her sister proud.
While embracing the evolution of cinema, Shanthi acknowledges the loss of spontaneity in modern filmmaking. She admires the method of acting of contemporary stars like Ranveer Singh, a luxury she believes was unavailable in her time.
