As the festive fervor enveloped audiences, these movies captured attention with their star-studded casts and compelling narratives.
The Face-Off:
“Jigarthanda Double X,” directed by Karthik Subbaraj, stands as an independent prequel to the acclaimed 2014 film “Jigarthanda.” Starring Raghava Lawrence and S. J. Suryah, the film received applause from audiences, setting a strong pace at the box office. In contrast, “Japan,” directed by Murugan and featuring Karthi and Anu Emmanuel in leading roles, garnered mixed responses, creating a palpable buzz about which film would reign supreme.
Box Office Showdown:
According to industry tracking data from Sacnilk, “Jigarthanda Double X” showcased robust performance in its initial three days, accumulating a total of ₹11.79 crore in net earnings across India. The film secured an impressive ₹7.19 crore in the first two days and continued its success with around ₹4.6 crore on the third day.
On the other hand, “Japan” amassed approximately ₹10.05 crore in net earnings during its opening weekend. Despite a promising start with ₹7.17 crore in the first two days, the film faced a slight decline, recording about ₹2.88 crore on the third day.
The Victory:
