Vetrimaaran’s controversial statement has received strong support from Kamal Haasan 

As a result of his speech at Thirumavalavan’s birthday event, a controversy has erupted. Filmmaker Vetrimaaran has opined that Tamil culture is being destroyed, and he gave the example of saying that Raja Raja Cholan was a Hindu, which sparked a raging controversy.

In response to an interview question from a journalist, Kamal stated that the word Hindu didn’t exist during the Raja Raja Cholan era and that people followed Samanam, in addition to Vainavam and Saivam. He stated that Vetrimaaran believes that people were united as Tamilians even though they were part of different religions
